First Ferry Strengthens Service for Bun Festival

Hong Kong - To facilitate the visitors joining the Bun Festival and the Bun Scrambling Competition in Cheung Chau, New World First Ferry Services Limited ("First Ferry") will arrange Central/Cheung Chau supplementary sailings and strengthen frontline manpower by 30% to serve the public.

The Grand Parade will take place at around 2:00pm on 2 May 2009 (Saturday). Visitors are expected to build up from 9:00am to 1:00pm for Cheung Chau-bound service. To meet the upsurge of demand, First Ferry will deploy extra vessels and the maximum hourly passenger carrying capacity is expected to increase by 150%. In connection with the Bun Scrambling Competition held at midnight, First Ferry will provide supplementary ordinary ferry sailing at 1:15am on 3 May (Sunday) for passengers bounding for Central after the competition.

To avoid crowdedness at piers, passengers are encouraged to arrive at Cheung Chau earlier and follow the instructions of the Hong Kong Police and be patient while waiting for embarkation.
