First Ferry (Macau) Joins the “2009 Pearl River Estuary Maritime Safety Forum” to Promote Marine Safety at Pearl River Estuary

Hong Kong - New World First Ferry Services (Macau) Limited (First Ferry (Macau)) joins the "2009 Pearl River Estuary Maritime Safety Forum" organized by the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration (GDMSA) and the Zhuhai Maritime Safety Administration of the People's Republic of China at Zhuhai from 25th to 26th June 2009. Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed this morning to improve standards of marine safety at Pearl River estuary.

The two-day Forum is constructive and inspiring. Overwhelming responses were received and over a hundred representatives from Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau shared experiences on marine safety management. The Forum and the signing of the Memorandum demonstrated commitment of rescue authorities and fast ferry operators to enhance cooperation and deliver efficient rescue in case of emergency. 

According to GDMSA's information, the Pearl River estuary carries about 1.5 millions vessels per year and is one of the busiest fast ferry transportation points in the world.
