First Ferry (Macau) participated in “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Exercise of Search and Rescue in the Sea of 2010”

Hong Kong - New World First Ferry Services (Macau) Limited ("First Ferry (Macau)") had dispatched "New Ferry LXXXI" to participate in "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Exercise of Search and Rescue in the Sea of 2010" which was held on 10 June 2010, to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of the crew in handling emergency situation. During the exercise, a collision between "New Ferry LXXXI" and another catamaran was simulated in the sea and emergency measures were required to implement among different rescue units. The exercise completed with success and the crew on "New Ferry LXXXI" demonstrated the competency and efficient skills in handling the crisis and cooperative team spirit.

19 units including around 200 participants from governmental departments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau as well as the fleets from different Macau ferry services operators participated in the two-hour exercise in the sea outside Macau International Airport. After the simulated collision occurred, the crew from "New Ferry LXXXI" immediately implemented the emergency plan by coordinating with related departments for disembarkation and giving proper treatment to the injured passengers. At the same time, First Ferry (Macau)'s Emergency Response Team formed by the management was activated to regulate the arrangements between the crew and different departments, in order to reinforce the effective and swift response of First Ferry (Macau) team to emergency situation.
