  Cheung Chau
Lantau Island
Tung Chung Fort - In 1817, Tung Chung Fort was built to thwart the opium trade and defend the coast from pirates. There are 6 old cannons and the enclosures are made of granite. During World War II, the Japanese army occupied the fort. In 1979, It was listed as one of the historical monuments and was refurbished in 1988.
Tai O -
Tai O is also known as the "Oriental Venical". It is located at the western part of lantau Island. Tai O retains most of its histrical setting such as waterways, stilt houses and fishing boats and it is famous for its fishing village scenery. Traveler should not miss buying traditional Chinese food like salted fish and shrimps paste there.
Po Lin Monastery - In 1920, Po Lin Monastery was built on the Ngong Ping highland. It was stared with only a shrine dedicated to Buddha, later the monastery was expanded with bigger halls and temple complex. In 1993 the world's largest outdoor bronze titan Buddha Statue was built by the side of the monastery. Po Lin Monastery and the Statue has become one of the most popular sights for tourists in Hong Kong.
Silvermine Bay -
Mui Wo is also known as "Silvermine Bay" because there was a silvermine before. It is now an imprtant place for sea and land transportantion in Lantau Island. You can reach Silvermine Beach by walling along the coast from Mui Wo Pier. Travelers can have a good view of the beautiful scenery by riding on a bicycle. Today, we can still find the Silvermine Cave inside the Park.
