Tin Hau Festival is approaching and New World First Ferry Services Limited (“First Ferry”) will arrange over 50 sailings (at around one-hour frequency ^) plying between North Point and Joss House Bay, Sai Kung on 26 April 2019 (Friday) and 27 April 2019 (Saturday) for worshippers to make offerings and participate in the celebratory festivities of Tin Hau Festival.

 

Ferry tickets are available for sale on-site at North Point Pier (only round-trip ticket) and Joss House Bay Pier (only single-trip ticket to North Point). Passengers with the ferry ticket or Octopus record of departing from Joss House Bay to North Point can enjoy a free single-trip from North Point to Hung Hom or to Kowloon City during the operating hours of the concerned ferry routes on the same day. (Passengers with the Octopus record, please use the same Octopus for passing through the designated Octopus Turnstile Gate at North Point Pier.)

 

The Tin Hau Temple (also known as “Tai Miu”) located at Joss House Bay, Sai Kung is one of the oldest Temple among 70 Tin Hau Temples nowadays. The Temple is thronged by thousands of worshippers during the festival to pray for blessings. Declared as a Grade I Historic Building, it was built in 1266. Its main hall is dedicated to the worship of the goddess while a side hall to the right is furnished with a copper bell and the “Dragon Bad” (The Emperor’s Bed). Some of the devotees would touch the Dragon Bed to be blessed with offspring or wealth. Devotees also can take a walk from the Temple to Tei Tong Tsui Rock Inscription, which recorded the history of the Temple.

* Concessionary fare for Senior Citizen aged 65 or above; Child aged between 3 and under 12 years old & Holder of Registration Card for People with Disabilities (Terms and Conditions Apply). Concessionary Fare under the “Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities” is not applicable.
