Health and Safety

Corporate Social Responsibility

The health and safety of our passengers and staff are of the utmost importance to us. As such, we spare no effort in building the healthy environment and uphold the safety on vessels, at piers and at workplaces.

Enhanced Training for Crew Members on Navigation & Passenger Safety Management
Safety Seminar1  Safety Seminar2

To enhance navigational safety and our crew’s capability of handling emergency situations, we hold the Safety Seminar periodically. In the seminar, topics about International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and ports-related ordinances in Hong Kong were covered to refresh the participants’ memory, along with the use of case studies to raise their awareness and to remind them the importance of all-round navigational safety. In addition, staff were arranged to participate in fire-fighting rehearsals on ferry and at the pier, improving their emergency response capabilities and hence ensuring the safety of runs and passengers on board.

Installation of Automatic External Defibrillators at Piers
AED1  AED2

Following the accreditation of our staff after they went through the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training, we had installed AEDs at Central Pier 5, Cheung Chau Pier and Mui Wo Pier, so that timely medical assistance can be rendered to those who need during an emergency. Should there is a need to use the AED, please approach the on-duty pier inspector. Crewmembers will also be arranged to take the relevant training and we will have a trial of installing the AED on the ordinary ferries which takes longer journey time upon crewmembers’ successful completion of the training.

Initiatives to Combat the Novel Coronavirus

In 2020 since the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus began in Hong Kong, we have been taking corresponding preventive actions. We have made it mandatory for all frontline staff to wear masks with their body temperature checked before reporting for duty, the provision of automatic disinfectant dispensers and disinfectant carpets at the piers, in addition to the timely updates on the COVID-19 cases’ information related to our company. Passengers are also strongly encouraged to wear masks throughout the ferry ride.

Proactive Measures to Prevent the Spread of Dengue Fever

In the summertime of 2018 while Dengue Fever raged through Hong Kong, we had taken a step forward on the cleaning and anti-mosquito initiatives such as, requesting the professional pest control company to conduct strengthening measures on mosquito control that are suitable for implementing at piers and onboard, as well as installing mosquito zappers on vessels.
